Something new? Something old? Something recreated?

This blog is supposed to be about something I would want to invent, and why I want to invent it. the only thing is that most everything is already invented. The only thing that I could think of is a child hamster wheel. It would be the perfect thing for getting the seemingly endless energy out of the little ones. This child-wheel could also double as an exercise equipmet safe for kids. The reason that I would want to invent the child-wheel is because my two siblings are always hyper and run around the house like chickens with their heads cut off.

My name’s Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump.

On Friday we were given the assignment of writing a blog about our favorite movie. This is not easy for me because I like alot of movies, but after careful thought, I narrowed the selection down the one movie, Forrest Gump . I learned something from this movie and enjoy watching it anytime that it comes  on TV.  The movie is about an unintelligent boy named Forrest Gump and his journey through life. The movie starts off with Forrest telling his life story to some strangers waiting at a bus stop bench with him. As a young boy, Forrest has a low IQ and very bad legs, he could barely walk, let alone run. Forest rises above the challange to run to escape some bullies while he and his best friend Jenny are walking home after school one day. After that, Forrest ends up running his way onto the college football team. Although Forrest meets many famous people, starts the Ping-Pong craze and a famous shrimping company, and inspires people to run, he could care less because all that he wants is Jenny, his true love. Forrest Gump shows that it isn’t always book-smarts that get you far in life, but the determination  and courage to follow after what it is that you want. There are two quotes from ‘Mama’ Gump that everybody should know.   “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”  and the other one is ” Stupid is as stupid does”

My Thanksgiving

This year my Thanksgiving was small and quite, for once. My dad, mom, aunt, brother, sister, and I all celebrated turkey day with my grandma and my three uncles. There we all had to eat two meals, lunch with John and dinner with Richie, because they had to work. When we arrived, my grandma had lunch/dinner ready to dive into. There was of course the turkey, potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberries, and the delicious rolls. After we chowed down for awhile John left for work and we watched the hilarious movie called Wallie. While I was watching the movie, I dozed off and woke up at the end. After I woke up, my other uncle (Gorge) and I decided that we wanted to play some games, so we wasted a couple of hours playing video games, while everyone else slept or watched Cars.

While lunch was boring, dinner with Richie was pretty funny. My Uncle Richie, who is 21, works at the Main Street Bakery at Disney, but on Thanksgiving Casey’s Corner was low on workers and needed help, so Richie was sent over to help, but was trampled on and yelled at all day long. When he came home George told him that he stunk like grease and fries, because he usually comes home smelling like nice breads and cinimon rolls. At that Richie began to whine about his “horrible day” and how he felt out of place in Casey’s Corner.

Overall I had alot to be thankful this year, especially scince I was almost ran over on Wednesday night by a stupid woman who started to back up really fast just as I was behind her car. I had to jump out of the way, but she still clipped my shoulder.

Winning the Soccer Game

At this point in life I have no great words of wisdom to say to the world, so I think that I will just tell you about my wonderful Friday. My weekend started on Friday right after school ended and our third soccer game began. The team that I play for was coached by Pastor Rick this week because our original coach (Mauricio) had to be the referee for that game. Pastor Rick started the game off with the worst set up for our team, he put all of the little kids as our defenders and mid-fielders. Right off the bat our team had verry little moral and our coach was getting mad because no one was moving fast enough. About half way through the first half of the game I was finally put into the field of glory. There I lead my young defenders to defending our goalie.

Once I was put into the game our team started to move up the field and keep playing towards the goal. I was playing so well that coach keept me in the rest of the game. There is no “I” in “team”, so let me give credit to whom credit is due. First off, Samuel our amazing goalie played a great game and blocked a few shots, but three shots were able to get past him. The funniest thing was that Ricky made a goal on Samuel. Maxx, Jeff, and John all played great and kept up the attack. The other person on my team that I have to mention is Jordan Parsons, she took Yancey falling on her, and keept playing for the last ten minuets of the game.

The other team also played a good game, but not good enough. We won six to three.

What is Life Like?

November 3, 2008

Life plays on through the struggles that we face,

The pain and hurt beat on our hearts,

With each second we voice what we think;

About life, love, and our pursuit of happiness,

These make our chorus in this thing we call life.

Each day and year pass,

As if they were but a sweet note of a piano.

We move through life with the deep sounds of thought,

We speak, worship, and persuade with the chords that our composer gave us.

People tell us how to sing our song,

But when it comes down to it,

We make up things on the spot,

Although it was all planned out from the beginning.

Though our song will evidentally fade out,

Others will look back and reflect on the impact that we made,

With the sweet melody of our ways,

In the end we will either be praised or shamed,

So the only thing that I have to say is,

Stick to the version that our Composer wrote for us,

But don’t be afraid to go in a new direction that God shows you.

( In my Metaphysical conceit I compared life to music)

Mr. Smith Goes To Washington

So the other day my English teacher was out of town and had us watch the movie Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. Of course this is a black and white movie, but nevertheless, it was a great movie. One of the things that I first noticed about the movie was that it was clean and the humor was not trashy, but funny and real.

The movie was about this man, Jefferson Smith, who knew nothing about politics, is appointed to be a senator of his state. Once Smith arrived he was over whellemed with the history of  Washington D.C., he ended up getting wandering off by himself for hours. After his first press metting the papers printed lies about him and twisted his words. Fuming with anger Smith went around punching all of the press that printed the lies about him. When Senator Smith tried to combat a bill that all of his colleagues wanted passed, he was smashed by bad publicity and slander and they tarnished his name. When the other senators tried to expel Smith from the senate Smith took the floor and held it for almost a whole day, without sitting or stopping his speech. He trudged through with the help of Clarissa, a.k.a Sanders, his secretary, who helped him from across the room and also was able to get what he was saying to his state through the Boy Rangers and their paper Boy’s Stuff . In the end the only way that he won was because of Senator Joseph Paine’s conscience made him confess and tell the truth about everything. I think that the quote that stood out to me the most was about Smith, the radio news anouncer said “…what he lacked in experience, he made up in fight…”, that was so true because instead of Smith breaking, he fought up hill against all odds and his enemy broke.

An amazing weak

This pass weak my high school (20 students and 4 chaperons) traveled to Washington DC. The best part of the trip for me had to be staying at the Abad’s house. Vivian and Mario were so nice to Yancey and I, and their grandson Braden, the cutest kid ever besides my little bro. But as I have to write about a monument, my choice is the Tomb of the Unknowns. For me seeing the honor and respect that is given to the unknown soldiers of World War 1 and 2, and the Vietnam war was aw inspiring . The guards responsible for guarding the tomb is the Third United States Infantry, also known as the Old Guard. The design of the tomb came from Thomas Hudson Jones and Lorimer Rich. The memorial is of course made out of marble.

Inscribed on face of  the tomb is the following: ” Here rest an American soldier known but to God”. In my opinion, that has to be one of the best sayings in all of Washington DC. One of the sayings that the guards go by is ” Soldiers never die until they are forgotten, Tomb guards never forget”. These highly trained men of honor guard the cherished tomb 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The walk that they do is 21 steps and a 21 second pause, and then again for up to an hour at a time. The number of steps and the amount of time paused, is important because it represents the 21 gun salute. To me the respect and honor that the Old Gaurd put into the gaurding of the tomb is amazing, I am just glad to have seen it for myself, especially scince I have family who served, and one that I know of that sacrificed his life for his country and its freedom. Eventhough all of the monuments were elabrate and marvelous, none had moved me as much as The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier did.

My Thoughts

So I was told to give my thoughts on the Nazis and what they did to the innocent Jews. It was just plain cruel what the Nazis did to their fellow humans. Hitler was one wack job, with too many people to do whatever he wanted. I mean what Hitler said about the Jews ”The Jews are undoubtedly a race, but they are not human.” that quote stirs something up inside of me, it defiantly makes me hate Adolf Hitler even more. The Nazis aren’t gone, but have invaded America as the Neo-Nazis, or as some people call them the Skinheads. But this book looks like it will be an intreasting topic. I am just glad that we are learning about this stuff and not acting like it never happened.

Whats Your Kriptonite?

So this week for our English class we have to write about our favorite snack. I thought that it would be nearly impossible to write about my favorite snack. Last night at work I went to the bakery to get a doughnut, it hit me that those maple long-Johns are my favorite snack. Seriously, those long-Johns are delicious, I could eat them all day long. There are three ways to get a long-John at the Publix that I work at; plain, with chocolate, or with maple frosting. Personally my favorite is the maple frosting, but the chocolate is just as good. Another one of my favorite snacks is the popcorn chicken from the Publix Deli. When the deli workers put fresh popcorn chicken out, that’s my kriptonite right there.

The poem that started the year.

So on Friday I had to recite the poem Death Be Not Proud in my English class. Was I nervous, yes, in fact I was shaking worse than my car. I do know that I got so nervous that I missed a whole line, and I kept forgetting words. I hope that I got an A on the poem, or else I will not be on the awsome A team.  But mostly I felt bad for one of my friends who lost his dad this week, worst timing for this poem. Man was this a crappy to start the year in English or what? Maby, just maby, I should have studied for the poem before Friday morning. Should of, could of, would of! ” If only I had a brain!” I learned my lesson, stop procrastinating, and be diligent.

Peace out till next time!
